Capture & occupation

Ordinary conquest preserves a city’s buildings.

Deplete a hostile command center to capture the city. Population falls 22%, morale becomes 18 and unrest resets to 0 under temporary occupation. Buildings survive; soldiers already in the field keep their allegiance. Captured structures immediately use the new owner’s appearance. A country that has made peace must be declared upon before another attack, and active truces must be respected. Devourers consume defeated enemy cities instead: civilians, city buildings and nearby enemy troops are lost, while the attacking force survives. The attacker earns 320 alloy from each completed destroyed city, shown above its ruins. Everyone must destroy bug and plant cities for the same reward. Optional Devourers can recapture their own non-hive cities. Devourer ruins reopen after 30 seconds; superweapon ruins never reopen. Against devourers, ordinary cities gain temporary survival resolve and, once below half health, can raise up to six civilian volunteers, preserving the civilian reserve and queued crew. Fixed-force fortress mode gains no extra soldiers.
